Finally. Several weeks of tribulation have ended today as I received the Good News: “Your ADSL line has been activated”. After some configuration it was up and running. Everyone could eventually hook up to the web and feel the huge relief of being connected to internet. And there was no more anxiety, as World Wide Web, friend of all lonely souls, entered our humble house

Hi from my iPhone & Hillsong Life

We’re still out of internet, and it sucks… BUT - iPhone does miracles - AND I got mine finally this Monday after having been subject to Apples marketing tricks… Such as having people to wait for their iPhones several weeks to get the buzz about it. They “didn’t have it in stock” for three weeks… and then suddainly the shops say that there isn’t any shortage of iPhones anymore at all… right.

Anyways, college life rocks. Last couple of weeks we’ve started to get settled and more into the everyday rythm. We joined the connect group (also known as cell groups) training for new CG leaders. It was not very thorough, but did indeed give some more insight into the life of Hillsong.

Most people around the globe seems to associate Hillsong with it’s music and doesn’t see more than hipp concerts, cool music, CDs and DVDs. And while relevant music is indeed an important part of Hillsong church, it is still only A part of it. The part that has put Hillsong on the map, yes. But what is less obvious is the real life behind the scenes. What the CDs doesn’t tell, is the basis that made them all possible. That is, a deep desire to build Jesus’ church, based on the Bible, for a time as this. A church with a true desire to see people saved, discpled and empowered to lead “in every sphear of life”.

“The big show”
What many pastors (at least in Europe and Scandinavia) seem to react on, and movements such as “emerging church” critisize is churches that put effort to building a great Sunday service. I’ve heard so many times said that it’s not about the church building, but about the people that are the church, and that it’s not about Sunday, but about everyday life with Jesus. I used to say so my self. BUT, who says having a well working, great looking church building works against having great, Jesus-loving people in that church? Doesn’t a rugged church reflect a neglecting attitude towards the place where the people of God meet?
And who says having an inspiring well prepared and up-lifting Sunday service would take anything away from living a great life with Jesus through out the week?! Quite in contrary. Doesn’t a cool state-of-the-art Sunday meeting witness that Jesus IS relevant also for a generation that is brought up by MTV, Britney Spears and Pearce Brosnan. I think it does.

What it seams like, in a European context, is that one thing outrules the other, that great Sunday services outrules great Jesus-based life throughout the week. But why would it?Only if there is a culture of “living the christian life” just on Sundays. And that’s a matter of creating a healthy church culture.

Well, much more could be said. And will so be, but later!

Hej igen,

för att nu överdriva mitt skrivande, så tänkte jag skriva tre texter i rad när jag nu är i farten och uppkopplad på nätet

Jo, jag ville ännu berätta om Guds godhet och omsorg.

Vi har, som jag redan skrivit tidigare, fått bo hos ett härligt norskt par, Irene och Håkan under de senaste 3 veckorna. De senaste 2 veckorna har vi egentligen bott där för oss själva, Johan och jag, för Irene och Håkan flyttade till City. Nu har vi bott där på “nåd” tills de flyttar nya hyresgäster in dit. Det ytterligare välsignade med detta är att Irene och Håkan ger typ alla sina möbler till oss “for free”! Så det är välsignat ska ni veta. För möbler är aldrig sådär jätte billigt. Inte ens här, för allt kostar faktiskst ungefär lika mycket som hemma i Finland…

Vi ska ta några svängar till Ikea för att hitta lite fräscha textiler, kuddar och kärl och sånt. Då får vi ju en hemmavan skandinavisk touch på det hela!

Men, nu måste jag rusa, dagens lektioner i “Christian Doctrine” ska just börja. Och efter det bär det av hem för att packa ihop våra grejer - för i morgon har vi ledig dag från skolan och DÅ flyttar vi!!! Juhuuu!

Värsta åskvädret

Moro igen… sitter här och skriver i en av skolans många “aulor”.

Och det blåste just upp till hurja storm. Det blixtrar och dundrar och träden viker sig dubbelt. Och för bara några minuter sedan då jag var ute sken solen ur klarblå himmel. Det kallar jag omväxlande väder.

Sisterhood!

“Hi Girls - Welcome to Sisterhooood!”

Jeps, idag hade vi terminens första Sisterhood samling! Och de va bra det!

SIsterhood är en samling för kvinnor i alla åldrar och livssituationer. Visionen är att det ska vara ett tillfälle för kvinnor varje vecka, där man talar ut tro, värde och uppmuntran i vardagen. Ett tillfälle där kvinnor får känna sig lite extra ompysslade och unika. De finns barnvakt under samlingarna så att mammor skall kunna delta för sin egen skull.

Som flicka i college måste jag tjäna och delta i det, och det passar bra, för det är ju det jag vill! Jag har varit parkerings dirigent åt 100 tals kvinnor idag - och jag ska vara det varje torsdag morgon resten av terminen. Det är inte så att jag valt det och att det är det jag längtat efter hela mitt liv, men det va riktigt kul att stå där och smila, dirigera och hälsa folk välkomna.

Annars var allt fixat riktigt “girlish” - dekor i pinkfärg, blommor, manikyr, kaffe, frukter i vestibulen - och under samlingen lovsång och undervisning av 4 olika kvinnor i olika åldrar.

Jag borjar inse att jag bor har…

Jag har nog trott att jag ar pa nagon form av semesterresa fram tills idag. Nu forstod jag plotsligt att vi ska stanna har - och det kanns faktiskt bra att det ar sa! Vi trivs mer an bra.

Om ni undrar, sa har jag inte tappat min skrivformaga, utan jag sitter vid Adams dator, och den vill egentligen bara skriva pa engelska sa den erbjuder inte nagra a a o… hehe

Naval, det blir ju bara lite kul och utmanande for dig som laser

Har just blonderat mitt har lite grann och klippt det kort igen - jeee! Trivs i det. Ocksa Johan fick en cool ny look idag! De har snygg stil pa haren har, tycker jag, sarskilt for kararna!

Och vet ni vad, vi ska fa flytta till vart alldeles egna hus pa tisdag! Halleluja, sa slipper vi antligen att leva i kappsackarna. Det ar inte langre sa tjusigt med kappsacksliv efter 6 veckor! Om ni undrade.

Huset ar stort, fast inte sa jatte nytt, men med 4 sovrum (2 stora och 2 sma), 1 vardagsrum, kok, 2 badrum, och en stor harlig och lummig bakgard med swimmingpool!! Gud e kul! Jag har faktiskt namnt at honom att det kunde vara lite charmigt med pool pa garden da vi nu en gang bor i ett “varmt” land!! Efter nagra vandningar hit och dit, blir det sa att vi kommer att dela huset med ett alldeles harligt danskt par, Louise och Sam. Det kanns kul och bra! Vi ska ha manga grillfester vid poolen - alla valkomna!

Just nu ar vi hos Adam och Andrew, de ar inte hemma, men vi kom hit for att tvatta lite klader! Vi har namligen inte tvattmaskin dar vi bor just nu. Tack for goda vanner!

Annars har skolan borjat mycket bra! Otroligt att redan 3 veckor har gatt sedan vi landade har. Skolan ar over vara forvantningar - denna forsamling har sa mycket att ge. Har inte forstatt att det kan finnas saaa mycket att lara, sa mycket braaaa!

Jag skall skriva lite tankar om allt vi fatt undervisning om sa smaningom. Bara vi far internet sa blir det sedan lite lattare med uppdateringar

Juhuu, nu ska jag ga och gora nagot annat!

Puss och hej!

Internet break out in the jungle

Well… our hosts moved away, and we’re as far from the web as we would in the middle of the jungle…. The connection is my great Nokia 6820 at 5.1Kb/s at it’s best. Short update though:

- One Iphone ordered.  - Yeeeey! Should get it within a week or so!

- College is great. Fascinating to get “under the skin” at a church which is up-to-date. Not “out of date”, as too many churches unfortunately. These guys really seems to have put a whole lot of thought into it and the way each department shares about how they think and work is impressive.

- We have a car A Daihatsu Applause 1991. It’s nice.

- We’ll finally get permanent accomodation one of these days. We’ll tell more when we get there.

- I can’t wait to get on a surf board. We visited Manly beach the other day. You won’t believe it, but it actually came some SNOW there. But it seem to disturb the surfers..

- Australia per definition: “No worries.”  … an expression you’ll hear a thousand times every day.

Byebye Finland….

Many thoughts has gone through my head the last days. Leaving family and friends and Finland to live at least a year possibly three on the other side of the globe does indeed give perspective - already before it actually happens. Cruising the last time through the finish archipelago, the last drive through Helsinki, making the last phone calls to friends (on Finish ground), and eating the last lunch with family makes you valuate things that have been part of you everyday life before. And I must say, every bit of my life I’ve felt of GREAT value. Leaving life in Finland is like leaving the best life I could imagine, but still doing so, knowing that God wants to give more, show more and do more.

The day after tomorrow…!

Wow - can’t believe it. Me and my wife we’re flying to Sydney on Tuesday. Now it’s time to go through the packing for a final check. Most things have went well with all preparations the last months, and it’s crazy that the day D is just around the corner.

What is this about?

Yes - we’ll be moving to Sydney, Australia, for one to three years. At least one. We’ll be studying at Hillsong International Leadership College . We’re very excited about it - everything about it. To move to Australia, to get in contact with Hillsong Church, to meet a lot of new people - and not least, to get trained through the college and hopefully also grow closer to God on this journey.

So - this blog will picture this journey of ours, and welcome you to take part of our experiences and thoughts.
